Pink Friday Nails

 IT'S BARBIE!!

No need to s**t on 'em, but funk up your Friday with these Pink Friday nails. Glam up those dull nails with a neon hot pink and a little bit of sparkle for some extra pizazz. Want to be even more like Nicki? Check out Nicki Minaj's new nail lacquer collection, which is set to hit shelves in 2012, by OPI. Soon we can bump "Fly", "Did It On 'Em", and "Super Bass" not only on our ipods, but on our nails too!!

Halloween Mummy Nails

Trick or treat?!! Treat yourself to this fun mummy nail art design and spook up your Halloween!

WHAT YOU NEED:

base coat (NailTek), black polish (Color Club's "Where's the Soiree"), white polish (China Glaze's "Snow") with silver glitter (Konad), yellow polish (Sally Hansen's "Mellow Yellow"), white nail striper (), black nail striper (), fast drying top coat (), hole reinforcements, dotting tool, and Konad stamping materials **optional**

ESTIMATED TIME: 1 hour and 30 minutes

STEPS:

1. Cut 5 hole reinforcements in half before painting your nails with your choice of base coat, then paint your nails with a black polish, like Color Club's "Where's the Soiree". Dry your nails for five minutes or until your black polish is dry to touch, then position your hole reinforcements at the tip of your nail.

**Line up the curve of the hole reinforcements with your nail beds**

2. Paint your nails with a shimmery white polish. I did not have a shimmery white polish, so I achieved this look with China Glaze's "Snow" white polish and Konad's silver shimmer top coat. Again, let your nails dry for five minutes or until your shimmery white polish is dry to touch. 

3. Once your shimmery white polish is dry, carefully peel off your hole reinforcements. 

4. Use a white nail striper, or polish with a thin brush, to fill in the bottom of your nail. By doing this, you want to connect the white polish on both sides of the nail, only leaving enough of the black polish showing for mummy eyes.

5. Now, I used Konad nail stamp plate 56; but most people do not have these materials, and it can be a little costly to purchase them. SO you can easily create the same effect with a black nail striper!

6. In the black space, use a large dotting tool and yellow nail polish, like Sally Hansen's "Mellow Yellow", to create 2 yellow eyes on each nail.

7. Now use a medium-sized doting tool to create the mummy's pupils with black polish, like Color Club's "Where's the Soiree". 

**Red polish, instead of black, would also look really cool to create the pupils!!**

8. Lastly, clean up around your cuticles and apply a fast drying top coat, like Seche Vite, to protect your design and dry your polish quickly...

and you're done! 

Animal Prints Week 4: Snake skin

 Fall into the new season's fashion trends with this edgy snake skin nail art design. This is the last design for my animal print series You may be able to find some snake skin purses or shoes, but where can you find snake skin nails? RIGHT HERE, BABY!! :)

**I won't take you through the steps for this design, because you need special nail stamping tools, so it may be quite complicated  recreating this design without a stamping tool. However, I will show you what a nail stamp is in a later blog.**

Animal Prints Week 3: Peacock Print

This "eye-catching" peacock nail design is a modern take of the classic moon manicure (Get it? Peacock feathers look like eyes.....Ok, bad joke)! This is week 3 of my animal print series, and I'm super excited to share just how simple this design is!

WHAT YOU NEED:

base coat (NailTek), metallic blue polish (SinfulColors' "Love Nails" ), dark green polish (Sally Hansen's "Emerald City"), gold polish (Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure's "Guilty Pleasure"), sky blue polish (Sally Hansen's "Blue Me Away"), navy blue polish (Sally Hansen's "Deep Sea Blue"), fast dry top coat (Seche Vite), hole reinforcements, large and medium-sized dotting tool 

ESTIMATED TIME: 1 hr- 1 hr 15 mins

STEPS:
1. Before you start polishing your nails, get all of your hole reinforcements ready. Cut all of your hole reinforcements in half. They stick onto your nails so much better this way.

Use tweezers when handling the hole reinforcements. 

 **You don't want to lose the tackiness and have them not stick properly onto your nails** 

2. Now paint your nails with your favorite nail strengthening base coat. Then paint your nails with two coats of a metallic blue polish, like SinfulColors' "Love Nails". Then paint your nails with a fast drying top coat to dry your nail polish quickly. 

 Let your nails dry for 3-5 minutes.

3. Once your metallic blue polish is fully dry, apply your hole reinforcements to the bed of your nails. Again, handle your hole reinforcements carefully so they don't lose their tackiness. After applying your hole reinforecements, paint your nails with two coats of a dark green nail polish, like Sally Hansen's "Emerald City".

Let your dark green polish dry for 3-5 minutes.

4. Once your dark green polish is mostly dry, remove your hole reinforcements with tweezers.

Now we create the peacock effect using a dotting tool...

5.  Take a large-sized dotting tool and gold polish, like Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure's "Guilty Pleasure", and create a large sized dot in the center of the tip of your nail.

6. Right beneath the dot you just created, create a slightly smaller gold dot.

7. Create a dot the same size as your second dot on the sides.

8. Create two smaller dots beneath those dots. 

9. Now with your gold dots, fill them in with a sky blue polish, like Sally Hansen's "Blue Me Away".

Then fill in your sky blue dots with a navy blue polish, like Sally Hansen's "Deep Sea Blue", using your small-sized dotting tool.

And finally, add a tiny sky blue dot at the bottom of the navy blue dot using a toothpick.

**As you can see, my dots are not perfect. THAT'S OK! Nature is not perfect**

10. Add a second coat of a fast drying top coat, and you're done!!

Animal Prints Week 2: Fish Scales

This elegant design is week 2 of my animal print series. Throughout this series, I am creating unique fashion prints that tend to be a little neglected, but are still fabulous! Where else can you find fish scale print nails, or anything for that matter? ...HERE!! You can have this eye-catching design, too, just after completing a few steps.

WHAT YOU NEED:

base coat (NailTek), hot pink polish (SinfulColors' "Cream Pink"), hot purple polish (SinfulColors' "Dream On"), gold polish (Essie's "Shifting Power"), fast drying top coat (Seche Vite), and a detail brush

Estimated time: 1 hour

STEPS:
1. First start off painting your nails with 1-2 coats of a base coat of your choice. Then paint all of your nails with ONE coat of a hot or bright pink polish. I like SinfulColors' "Cream Pink" because it has a slight tint of gold to it, which will help bring the look together in later steps.

2. Now, here, you will need to work quickly. Open up both bottles of your hot pink and purple polish and get out your detail brush. One finger at a time, paint your ONE nail with a second coat of your hot pink polish then IMMEDIATELY apply your purple polish to the tip of your nail. While both polishes are STILL WET, take your detail brush and swirl the two colors together with your detail brush. Continue this process on the next nail, and so on. The blending does not need to be perfect, real fish aren't perfectly blended. 

**It is helpful to use generous amounts of polish so it stays wet a little longer, making it easier for you to mix**

3. Apply one coat of a fast drying top coat and let your nails dry for 3-5 minutes.

4. Clean your detail brush with acetone or nail polish remover. Then use and index card, paper plate, or plastic protector sheet (whichever you prefer) and create a glob of gold polish. Use your detail brush to create the fish scales, using your gold polish. You can make these scales as small or as big as you'd like!

**When creating the fish scales, think of an abundance of tiny hills**

5. Once you have drawn on scales on every nail, apply a second coat of your fast drying top coat...

...and you're done!!

Animal Prints Week 1: Cheetah

This colorful, fun, and daring design is my own personal expression of the cheetah print! Take it as an ode to Lisa Frank. See how simple it is to create in the steps below!

WHAT YOU NEED:

basecoat (NailTek), white polish (China Glaze's "Snow"), rainbow colored glitter top coat (Sally Hansen's "Disco Ball"), hot pink polish ( Color Club's "Poptastic"), orange polish (Sinful Colors' "Big Daddy"), yellow polish (Sally Hansen's "Mellow Yellow"), light blue polish (Sally Hansen's "Blue Me Away"), purple polish (Sinful Colors' "Dream On"), black polish (Color Club's "Where's the Soiree"), fast drying top coat (Seche Vite), medium and small sized dotting tool  

ESTIMATED TIME: 1 hour

STEPS:
1. Start off painting your nails with a basecoat to protect your natural nails. Then paint your nails with two coats of a white polish, like China Glaze's "Snow". Optional: After painting your nails white, you can also paint your nails with a disco shimmer top coat like Sally Hansen's "Disco Ball".

2. Use a sheet protector, like I did, or an index card to blot your hot pink nail polish.

3. Grab your medium-sized dotting tool, and create one random dot of this color per nail.

4. Repeat step 3 with...

orange 

yellow

blue

and purple

5. Now take your black polish and blot a small circle of polish.

6. Grab your small sized dotting tool and create these symbols, ( ) --> ( . --> ( --> O ,around the random dots. Be creative! It does not need to be perfect!

7. As you can see in the previous picture, in step 6, there are some empty spaces of white on your nail. Fill in these spaces with random black dots, using your dotting tool. Try to make the black dots different sizes.

8. Once you have filled in the empty spaces, dry your nails for about 2-3 minutes, then apply your fast drying top coat.

9. Let your nails dry and your done!!
